Why we need to teach geography...
I always enjoy showing this video to my classes at the beginning of the year. This year, I may have my students do some pre-learning by looking up the answers to some of the questions even before they watch the video.
The way I see using blogs in my class are to share information with other teachers and the students. In reality, it could easily replace the traditional webpages that we currently use. This for the parents combined with the use of google classroom for students and teachers...is there any wonder why some feel that google is taking over the world? The question becomes, when will education be mostly done through the internet?
Hey Justin,
ReplyDeleteI just typed this whole thing and I don't think it posted! Ugh. Anyway, we had the same idea with this assignment. I posted a video (two of them actually) on my blog about why you need Geography. Check them out: http://tarahuptontechcamp.blogspot.com/
I am teaching a section of 7th grade Geography next year and may be tapping you on the shoulder for some ideas. Hope you had a good end of your year and a great summer!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Justin...is google taking over the world? I hate the idea of using a blog and google classroom. I wonder if there is a way to have a universal parent login for google classroom so it can all happen in one spot and parents can see what is going on via classroom instead of using a blog plus google classroom?
ReplyDeleteI agree, I have been paying for a website format, but this seems easier...and free.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of starting out class with why we need Geography. I'll check out Tara's videos as well.
The tech committee at CH advocated for using Google Classroom as our primary teacher webpage. Although parents would need to get the same student login at the beginning of the school year we though rolling this out could be a big improvement to the static webpage. It turns out there are privacy issues (go figure) but we haven't given up the ghost yet. Ideally Google would come up with a seprate parent portal... We'll see.
ReplyDeleteYour website looks great! I am learning from other comments left for you-how to add a page and have a tab on the top. Thanks to all in the class!!
